Since 2018, AstaZero together with Volvo Autonomous Solution has developed and constructed several test environments for verifying and validating autonomous transport systems within the quarry & mining industry. The challenge in developing these testing environments is to create the capability to test various types of production scenarios relevant to the autonomous transport system and its aimed site for operation in a safe environment. During the fall of 2023, AstaZero and Volvo Autonomous Solution inaugurated a new test environment called Generic Site AstaZero. In this presentation will Håkan Andersson (AstaZero) present the design and implemented function at Generic site. Jacob Aduama (Volvo Autonomous Solution) will present how the Generic Site concept (and Generic Site AstaZero) is a key enabler for their ability to scale V&V activities through simulation and real-world testing.
Håkan is the Proving ground manager at AstaZero and has held this position since 2013, with responsibility for the operation and development of new testing environments at AstaZero's proving ground. Håkan has throughout his career been involved in assignments related to vehicle safety testing and testing of autonomous vehicles. He has over 15 years of experience in developing test environments, methods, and equipment for use in testing active safety systems and autonomous vehicles. In recent years, Håkan has also assisted other testing facilities in designing test environments tailored for autonomous vehicle testing.
