Tuesday May 28, 2024 11:05 - 11:25 Conference hall
Exhibitor: Zinkgruvan Mining AB
Speaker: Olof Slatte
The usage of drones is becoming more common and widely used in many industries. This presentation aims to give examples on how different drone carried sensors such as photogrammetry, LiDAR and thermal imaging is utilized on Zinkgruvan Minings tailings facility.

Tailings technician at Zinkgruvan Mining AB.
Olof has a diploma in Advanced Higher Vocational Education in geodesy.
Olof started at Zingruvan Mining in 2018 as a surveyor. A lot of his work was related to the development of safer and more efficient ways to collect good as built data of stopes and shafts. This led to the introduction of drones equipped with SLAM scanning technology.
Seeing the possibilities to utilize his survey experience from the mine, Olof started to work at Zinkgruvans tailings facility, Enemossen, in 2022. On Enemossen, Olof’s main responsibilities has been tailings deposition strategy, instrumentation, and monitoring.
Since 2023 Olof has continuously worked with aerial photogrammetry and in some cases, drone carried laser scanning. The usage of drones has proven to become a good tool when it comes to follow up deposition, visualizing construction, or as complement in monitoring the status of the dams.
