Welcome to the Data‑cene: Building Next‑Generation Geological Data Architectures for the Era of Advanced Analysis

Wednesday May 27, 2026 16:20 - 16:45 Conference hall

Poster: Stockholm Precision Tools

Speaker: Geoff Burtner

In modern exploration, a company’s true asset is no longer the mineral in the ground, but the data set that describes it. Join us for this strategic session as we explore the concept of the "Data‑cene," a new era in geological data management specifically designed for the age of machine learning and advanced analysis.Instead of focusing solely on traditional technicalities, we will analyze how companies can future-proof their projects by adopting an open and traceable data architecture, avoiding the closed, monolithic "walled gardens" that stifle innovation. Discover how to implement a framework where traceability and verification are not just compliance tasks, but the pillars that transform field measurements into a high-value strategic asset, ready for acquisition processes or joint venture partnerships. This session will provide a critical vision of how SPT’s next-generation tools integrate into this ecosystem to eliminate uncertainty and position your project at the forefront of today's geological technology.

Sr. Structural Geologist/Geochemist

Geoff has 16 years’ experience in the mining industry and has been the Sr. Structural Geologist/Geochemist with Oriented Targeting Solutions since 2016. He has worked around the world in most major deposit styles, focused on training geologists to acquire high-quality geochemical and structural data, assisting exploration teams in developing data acquisition architectures for efficient capture and using that data in integrated structural/geochemical analysis and modeling for clients of all sizes. Geoff’s philosophy is that, without good geological data and an understanding of its limitations, exploration is no more than gambling with drill rigs
